Online configurable photo painting editors

Many people have seen the showcase about our modern photo paint effect editors. It's called The Best Photo Painting Effects. What that gallery doesn't show is how that online photo painting softwares are versatile.

Picture to People photo painting editors are amazing because the create the most realistic results (the ones you could even believe were made by real painters). Furthermore, they are equally amazing because they have a very nice configuration level. This last feature is very important and it can be very useful.

As an example, below I show a very small photo having many tiny details. After you see a painting created by using our Online Watercolor Painting Photo Editor with its default configuration. Finally there is a result generated by using the same watercolor photo painting effect, but selecting different values in the software interface. The one you prefer is a matter of opinion, but everybody can see in the second one we could get smoother brush strokes and a more detailed piece of art.

New Picture to People image upload policy

Recently we have improved the image upload policy for most of Picture to People effects. Below I explain the changes in details.

First of all, file size will not be a problem anymore. Now the input files can be up to 1 MB in size, what is five times bigger than the previous limit of 200 KB.

Second, but not less important, most P2P photo effects now deal with images in a different way. Previously, if the image had any dimension above a limit value (usually 1200 pixels), the request was refused.

Now our softwares are more versatile when evaluating if an image is suitable to be used as input. If the image size doesn't match our upload policy, it's reduced and so the effect is calculated (there is no more abortion caused by image size in pixels).

Currently, the four possible steps to decide what to make when a photo effect request is received are like below for most P2P tools:

1) Inspect the file coming from the request. If it is up to 1 MB in size, proceed. If it's bigger, reject the request and warn the user;

2) Evaluate the image total size in pixels. If the image has up to 1,000,000 (1 million) pixels, accept it "like is", no matter what its dimensions are, so calculate the effect. This rule turns eligible, for example, an image that has dimensions of 1800 x 500;

3) If the image has more than 1 million pixels, evaluate its dimensions. If both image dimensions (width and height) are up to 1200 pixels, accept the image "like is" and calculate the effect.

4) If the image has any dimension (width or height) bigger than 1200 pixels, reduce the image proportionally, so its bigger dimension becomes 1200 and the smaller reduces accordingly. Calculate the effect using this reduced image as input. Return the result image to the user, no matter it's smaller than the original one.

There are some P2P softwares that use different limits and make bigger image reductions, but they are few.

Painting photos on canvas

I'm working hard to bring a new unpublished feature to Picture to People.

If everything goes right, my new realistic painting photo effect will be able to paint on several kinds of canvas.

The user will be able to choose divers kinds of canvas to be used as media and also there will be several interesting configuration options. This will bring countless possibilities to create new styles of artistic pieces based on photos.

Below I show you two experimental examples of painting on canvas I have created recently.

New realistic photo painting effect

In last two years, I have researched a lot about artistic photo effects that imitate sketch, drawing and painting like made by human hands.

Since I started that efforts, I have made several amazing discoveries that turned possible top class paint effects like these ones:

Watercolor photo effect online (faster than ever)

I'm making a very hard work to optimize some Picture to Picture core libraries. I have already spend several days and nights making this very important task.

Most of P2P code is already fast, but I want to achieve a new level of high speed, so I will be able to dream about publishing new complex text and photo effects online.

This job will take some more weeks. Optimizing complex code is very tricky, and some algorithms need to be modified. Anyway, I'm already getting good results.

The Watercolor Painting Photo Effect uses several of the libraries under improvement and already is 10% faster in average. Bellow I show you a photo and a watercolor painting created by using the online software. The creation of this paint took 11% less time than before.

Creating graffiti art from photos online

Some time ago I have shown here an example of graffiti you can create from photos and pictures by using the Photo Graffiti Effect Generator released online.

That old example looks like an image created by drawing with sprays in a wall. The chosen renderer is nice, but that free graffiti creator has many painting styles, so you can make a lot of different artistic pieces.

Below you can see another drawing type offered by this online graffiti software. This style creates a modernist painting made by using acrylic ink and brushes. By clicking the image, you can see it in full size.

I have been collecting a very good feedback about the new P2P online photo paint effects. Creating fresh paint effects for photos

I have been creating a totally new and very impressive painting engine based on samples. It was a very old dream and already took me many months of research and hard work.

Now the engine is in a advanced stage, I'm developing different painting tools to Picture to People. Based on photos (the samples), these tools will generate impressive portraits and so.

Unfortunately, there are many sub-projects ongoing and I'm not sure if I will be able to finish these new softwares this year yet.
